This 2 session introductory workshop offers ample hands-on practice in Touchstones discussion leadership. Expert trainers engage participants directly in exploring barriers to participation, how to foster cooperative learning, and what it takes to build active listening in the classroom. You'll learn and apply strategies and tools that foster more student-centered, civil, and inclusive discussions right away.
This workshop is ideal for anyone who is already using Touchstones programs, just getting started, or who is interested in experiencing our transformative approach to teaching and learning. You'll come away understanding how Touchstones classes one class period a week effectively facilitate active learning, critical thinking, increased self-awareness, and a greater sense of responsibility to others. In addition, you’ll see how skills learned in Touchstones support student learning and prosocial behavior across the board!
