Touchstones Teachers’ Symposium
On Sunday, September 28, 2025, 9:30 to 1130 AM, the Touchstones Discussion Project will host a Teacher Symposium in the Hodson Boathouse (on College Creek) on the campus of St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland in coordination with the Graduate Institute. We encourage all educators, undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in teacher certification programs, and others who are passionate about education to join us as we examine
- dialogue as a teaching tool,
- the reciprocal nature of discussion leadership and participation, and
- the complexities of discussion-based teaching.
Here’s a brief outline of the interactive engagement on offer:
- Welcome and Introductions
- Framing the Discussion: Who is called to teach?
- What is discussion-based teaching and learning? Step into a Touchstones discussion to explore the art and science of discussion.
- Roundtable Discussions – Explore the benefits, the challenges, and educational practices of discussion-based teaching and learning.
- Mentoring – Connect, support, and enrich each other through varied experiences, pathways, and goals.
- Concluding remarks and thanks
