Look Inside

Designed to enhance students’ reflective thinking, analytical reasoning, civil discourse, and discussion leadership skills, this 12-meeting course provides guided practice that culminates with student-led seminars. By first considering the role of authority and expertise in determining whose ideas and experiences are valued in our society, students begin to examine how their own ideas, habits, and assumptions both advance and hinder their growth. Pursuing questions about legitimate and illegitimate power,  our roles as private and public selves, and how we reach beyond our own experiences to understand others, all students apply and refine metacognitive practices to investigate the evolving nature of knowledge. This program emphasizes self-reflection as a tool for lifelong growth, analytical and synthetic reasoning, teamwork, and applications of collaboration in responsive, creative leadership.
